Following the recommendations in chapters one and two of the Construction Playbook, contracting authorities are adopting the principles of ‘Pipelines, Portfolios and Longer Term Contracting’ and ‘Harmonise, Rationalise, Digitise', such as the Ministry of Justice’s New Prison Programme (NPP) and the NHS New Hospital Programme (NHP).
Industrialised construction is best suited to specific projects of scale or an aggregated demand across multiple projects. This enables a platform-based approach, and we are demonstrably improving performance by using consistent designs and processes.
Repeatable processes are not just in relation to the construction partner. The real benefit of industrialisation is that every stakeholder can repeat their internal and external processes across the project lifecycle. The same processes can then be applied across the wider programme or pipeline.
